Plasma Gasification PDF Print E-mail

The Philippine sister company is developing and will operate plasma gasificaction facilities in the Malay Archipelago for the purpose of managing hazardous and/or industrial waste. Here is a short summary of the technology.

Plasma pyrolysis (or gasification) is a proven, state-of-the-art technology for the non-toxic disposal of waste. Scientists sometimes refer to plasma as the "fourth state of nature". The National Defense Center for Energy (NDCEE) worked with the U.S. Army to assess the "reliability, maintainability, and overall effectiveness" of a mobile energy pyrolysis system. It concluded that the pyrolysis system provided an "environmentally superior technology compared to competing waste disposal practices such as landfilling and incineration."

The Philippine company will make use, as did the NDCEE, of a similar plasma pyrolysis mobile system. This system, as the NDCEE concluded, is useful for problematic wastes with high disposal costs. Its mobility allows it to be transported to different on-site locations for the destruction of waste streams. The NDCEE system passed a 150 mile mobility test. Its destruction removal efficiency for hazardous waste was in excess of 99.99%.
